Most families have little to no experience or understanding about the long-term health effects of trauma. Creating a trauma-informed practice to promote patient understanding and trust involves the enhancement of the built environment of the clinic space, allowing for comfort, education, privacy, strengths-based teaching, and support at all levels during a family’s clinic experience.
