Training for Pediatricians

Science is now informing clinical practice of the need to address adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and potential toxic stress and downstream effects in order to improve health outcomes. Research and best practices are showing promise in trauma assessments and multi-generational supports in the pediatric and family practice health care. The Trauma-Informed Pediatric Guide seeks to develop a health sector strategy in the pediatric and family practice field for clinic-based trauma-informed practices.

Training on Prenatal Strategies

Picture
If we are going to reduce trauma, we have to start at the beginning. The very beginning.

Over the past year, ACEs 360 has focused on research, training, and advocacy related to trauma and the prenatal period. Supporting expecting mothers and families is critical to disrupting the intergenerational impact of trauma. In addition to new prenatal curriculum development, we are also establishing the ACEs Prenatal Collaborative to discuss research and systems change.

ACEs and Prenatal: From Success to Strength provides an overview of research on how ACEs and stress can transfer from parent to child and opportunities to prevent ACEs in future generations.
