Complex Trauma

The Complex Trauma Training Consortium (CTTC) is a national trainer-training and workforce development initiative that is establishing sustainable expertise in complex trauma understanding, assessment, and treatment across the nation. Iowa ACEs 360 was selected as the site lead for the state of Iowa. Content options span a comprehensive range of topics, including the intersection of complex trauma with adverse life experiences. Example topics include domains of impact, early intervention, trauma-informed screening and assessment, and education.

The 20-module, 40-hour CTTC curriculum spans a comprehensive range of topics, including the intersection of complex trauma with adverse life experiences, such as ancestral trauma, systemic racism, and substance abuse. Curriculum emphasizes the effects of complex trauma on high-risk and marginalized groups, including immigrants, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ youth and families. Topics also include complex trauma screening and assessment, domains of impact, and early intervention.

Iowa ACEs 360 and its training partners are available to deliver one or a combination of the training modules to your community, organization, or conference. Please contact us through our training request form on this page and we can discuss which CTTC modules might be applicable for your needs.

Lemonade for Life

This training experience is designed to help providers and community members support families who have experienced ACEs with building hope and resilience. You’ll have opportunities to discuss ACEs and resilience science in relation to your own experiences and try out tools and resources for introducing these topics with families using a hope-infused mindset. The training conveys that individuals cannot rewrite the beginning of their story, but they can change how it ends.

Training for Educators

ACEs and Education: From Stress to Success Curriculum fulfills Iowa’s requirement for educators and school-based personnel to receive training on ACEs and toxic stress. The goal is to leave you with an understanding that there is a great deal of hope in responding to the impact of ACEs and toxic stress in school systems. To view the guidance from the Iowa Department of Education on the law, click here
